die
meisten der hier gezeigten bilder sind über die letzten
jahre entstanden. sie wurden während mehrerer road-trips nach texas, new mexico, arizona, nevada,
colorado, kansas, michigan und kalifornien aufgenommen.
dabei liegt der fokus meiner fotografischen arbeiten
schwerpunktmäßig auf der us-amerikanischen automobilkultur, dem damit
verbunden kult um das auto und der prägenden stellung von detroit
(motown), die generationen entschieden gekennzeichnet hat.
analog zu dem verfall dieser vormachtstellung und der
polarisierenden faszination für die extreme der us-amerikanischen
kultur und gesellschaft, stellen photographien zum verfall des
landes, dem 'urban jungle' und den dort lebenden menschen den
hauptfokus meiner arbeiten dar.
auch außerhalb der usa konzentriere ich mich auf den verfall
althergebrachter industriestandorte und die folgen des umbruchs von
der industrie- zur dienstleistungsgesellschaft. mein bevorzugtes
medium sind dabei ausdrucksstarke und harte schwarz-weiß
fotografien. gegensätze, tristesse und die beschäftigung mit
vergangenem sind die visuell verbindende klammer.

most of the shown photographs have been shot during the
last few years on several road trips to the us (texas, new mexico, arizona, nevada,
colorado, michigan, and california).
the focus the photographs lies in the declining us-automobile, industrial and urban culture and its people,
which - in their heigh times did have a global impact on our
society.
a deep respect and at the same time incomprehension of the extremes
of the us society and its difference from the 'old world' is the
main driver behind sections like 'country' and 'people'.
i follow this focus as well with my works that were and are shot
outside the us. deserted industrial areas, the evolution of society
from production to services and the visual consequences i find
fascinating. i try to capture this part of human history in strong,
most of the times high-contrast photographs which most of the times
show a certain tristesse.
